My lack of experience partaking in alcoholic beverages in the Adams Morgan community really speaks to the fact that I, in fact, did not go to college in D.C. However, nice weather calls for exploring new things! So my friend Emma and I wanted to enjoy some Saturday evening sunshine on a rooftop and we landed at Perry’s!
Unlike my usual pre-restaurant prep of researching the menu and doing a Yelp-deep-dive – I was pleasantly surprised that what I presumed was a bar from my exterior purview was in fact, a sushi restaurant as well! They also do drag brunch on weekends – eclectic indeed!
Perry’s has a truly fantastic happy hour. It lasts from 4-7:30pm every day – even Saturday’s! They have $5 rail drinks and beer, $6 wine, and a $7 cocktail of the day. On my first visit, the specialty cocktail was gin, elderflower, and lime – so delicious! Recently I went back and had another gin and lime drink (sans elderflower) – i truly didn’t believe there was alcohol in there!

While I have not visited this place for a sit down meal, the service at their rooftop bar is great. The bartender is cheery and very sweet. I first ordered a happy hour sake – and safe to say I was *not* into it. Not something I usually do, I took it back to the bar and asked for a new drink, and he was nice enough to exchange it without charge.
Another huge perk of Perry’s is the very cheap sushi! Happy hour prices are $5 for simple rolls and $10 for nicer ones. Emma got two of the veggie rolls and I had the spicy tuna and the crunchy shrimp. While the rolls were a little on the salty side, its an undeniably good deal to get a sushi dinner for $10 with a beautiful view.
The service here is great too. On my first visit i tried the cold sake – which was frankly awful. I took it back to the bar after two sips and the bartender gave me my new drink without charging me for the first. The rooftop bar definitely has their regular visitors and the neighborhood clientele are all friends.
I will definitely be back to Perry’s for many more Saturday happy hours for sushi and drinks. You can’t get better than a rooftop bar with cheap drinks in Adams Morgan!

The Bottom Line
A fun fun choice for rooftop drinks in AdMo.
