&pizza is a DC staple and one of my all time favorites. Really, one of my all time favorites. My fellow intern friends and I stumbled upon it, looking for somewhere to eat on H St, and we found the holy grail of cheap, late night, and crave-worthy pizza.
Now, i’ve heard that the concept of &pizza is widespread, the “they-make-the-crust-and-you-add-all-the-toppings-you-want” deal. This Midwestern girl has not been privy to such luxuries. In a world of pay-for-guac-at-Chipotle, I love the unlimited toppings model. You can get as many veggies, meats, sauces and toppings as you want. (Disclaimer: Shrimp is extra. But trust me, you don’t need it.)
Anyways, here’s the deal. You can choose one of two options: go with “The Hits,” a menu with their favorite combinations, or the create your own option. The second is superior.
Create Your Own: You get in line at &pizza, and choose your crust: white or wheat. You then choose your sauce, I recommend the spicy tomato and the mushroom truffle, half an half. Then you add fresh mozz and a selection of 10 veggies and 10 meats. Yes, you can get all of them if you want.
The pizza is put in an oven for a few minutes to cook the toppings. After this, you get to choose even more toppings! Goat cheese, feta cheese, arugula, and sun dried tomatoes, just to name a few. Lastly, you have a selection of 7 sauces, from cherry bomb bbq to basil pesto. Viola, the pizza is done!

One of the best things about &pizza is the value for your money. For 9$, you get this really big pizza that lasts two meals. And, since its custom-made and you can pile on all the toppings you want, you’re reeeeally getting a good deal.
Another big plus: they have fifteen locations across the DC, VA, and MD, and are open anywhere from 11 pm on weekdays to 4 am on weekends, depending on the specific location. Late night munchies? This is your place.
It wouldn’t be an &pizza review without a mention of their drinks! I am decidedly not a soda person. However, the housemade craft sodas are amazing here. They are flavorful, unique, and worth trying. My favorites are Fig + Pear Elixir and Mango + Passion Fruit.

Lastly, I have to mention….they have dessert pizza. Yes, dessert pizza. On “The Hits” menu, there is a menu called the Lori Lane. On a bed of white chocolate sauce is a compote of berries, topped with sweet ricotta and agave syrup. Its amazing.

The Bottom Line
Generous portions, unlimited toppings, and cheap: amazing broke college student food! One of my favorites.
